Walking the Kokoda Track

The Kokoda Track is an indelible line for many Australians as well as being a line of courage in Australia’s history. It is a ‘single file foot’ track through the Owen Stanley Range roughly north-east of Port Moresby, New Guinea.

Taking the ‘walk’ of 96 kilometres through a rugged mountain range evokes many feelings: respect for the soldiers who gave their all, on a journey for the nation; and the many people since who have chosen the walk as a tribute to the soldiers and as a challenge to themselves.

“Taking the Kokoda Track” is a travel talk and discussion regarding the walk from Kokoda village to Owers Corner.

This Travel Talk – Walking the Kokoda Track will be delivered by Gary Brown at Mary Kidson Hall on Friday 24th February from 10 am to 1 pm
