BBC Bleak House

Bleak House

In this course participants will view and discuss each episode of the BBC production of Charles Dickens’s novel ‘Bleak House’. With a range of fascinating characters and a couple of intriguing plots, this adaptation proved a major success when first shown over a decade ago. Critically, the series also proved a winner, one critic stating that “watching this extraordinary version of Dickens’ novel feels less like watching a TV drama and more like sampling a strange other world”.

After an introduction in the first session, we will look at episodes in successive weeks and discuss what’s happening, the characters, aspects of production, and so on. (Reading the novel is not required!)

This course is presented by Frank Molloy, held weekly on Wednesdays from 20/7 to 7/9 from 2- 3:30pm at Watermark on Church Street.
